Dumlog Church Plant and DVBS

Greeting to all in the name of our Lord and Savior, may He be glorified and honored in all things!!!

Dumlog is HMMI’s first church plant in Cebu. We are very excited about the goings on with this church plant as we have seen God work many things through that we thought were humanly impossible but as His word says, All things are possible through Him. Amen!

Pray for the workers and volunteers that are working with the church plant in Dumlog. That God would give them the wisdom, discernment and strength to carry out the work He has set before us. Pray for the souls of the people who are now in attendance at Dumlog. We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict souls and that God will draw the people to Him through the Savior, Jesus Christ!

Pray for the center in which the meetings are being held. There are still some improvements and work that needs to be done.

Praise the Lord for the DVBS (Daily Vacation Bible School) that has just completed at Dumlog. We had over 60 children in attendance!!! Not only were we able to reach out to the children with God’s word but also the parents. We pray that the seeds planted during this DVBS will continue to be watered and grow.

To God Be the Glory!!!

Latest Updates about our Family

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior.

It has been a while since my last post. Many things have been happening in my life and the life of my family that have caused the delays.

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008 was a very sad day for our family. Hannah Grace Turley was still born at 32 weeks of pregnancy. This was a difficult day in our lives and one we don’t completely understand. By God’s Mercy and Grace, we have managed to get through the initial tough hours and days and to continue on. We don’t question God’s reasoning or plan, but praise Him that His perfect will and plan for us and the life of Hannah Grace has been fulfilled, even though we don’t understand.

Hannah Grace and the difficulties we faced during Joy’s pregnancy have opened up many doors and venues to witness to many. If not for Hannah Grace, these doors may have never been opened so for that we are thankful and trust that this was all part of God’s bigger plan we don’t always get to see in advance.

Hannah Grace Turley was laid to rest in Jeddah, KSA on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 1500 hours. Several close friends were with us during this time.

In memory of Hannah Grace, HMMI is considering starting a “Hannah Grace Educational/Scholarship fund” program. Please pray with us that the Lord would give us the wisdom and guidance needed in the setting up of this fund.

The New Year

Greetings to everyone who follows our site.

We wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year.

HMMI is off to a wonderful start in the new year. The first weekend of January, we had a dedication service and launching of the new church plant in Dumlog, Toledo City, Cebu. We had several people in attendance and the community is coming together to help clear the area and build the church.

As church buildings go, this is a very simple structure for now. It is a Nipa style structure made out of bamboo and lumber. We have been blessed through kindness of several groups to help with funds and with several individual donations. Even the children are donating their allowances/monies earned to help build the church.

We ask for your prayers. As with anything we do for the Lord, it seems the adversary is never very happy. The spiritual warfare has begun and we have hit some strong opposition through those whom we consider “Christian brothers and sisters” yet it seems to have spawned some kind of disapproval by some. Pray for them and pray for those whom are in their path of turmoil and trouble making.

Pray for the families in the Dumlog area we are reaching out to and presenting the Gospel to. Pray that the Lord though His Holy Spirit will convict the hearts of the lost and call them to Himself for salvation.

We are also starting our annual project for raising funds to provide school supplies to the school age children in our feeding program. Pray for donations and funds to provide the needed items this year. We have approximately 80 school age children in our feeding program that will require supplies by June 2008.

Pray for one of our volunteers who desires to go back to college and get a degree in Education. She wants to get her degree and be one of our teachers when we get the school up and running.

Pray for our Scholarship recipient who is attending computer repair and building technical school. He has done well in his first year and has a year to go to earn his diploma/certificate in computer repair and troubleshooting.

Again many thanks for our prayer partners in ministry.

HMMI ON THE MOVE!

We at HMMI have been blessed by several happenings going on concerning several matters.

First, we have been working to pursue a Church Planting opportunity in Dumlog, Toledo City. One of the needs was a property for this ministry. We have had one of our volunteers allow us to use their small property located there. But God is good in all things. We were able to secure a 400 sq. m. property adjoining the property that was being offered for our use. We secured this property through a long term lease agree with the local company that owns the property.

This is a tremendous blessing for the time as it has a small “nipa” style home already on it as well as electricity and water from a well. It needs some minor upgrading and repairs but still functional for our needs at the present time.

We are also well into the planning stages for a Christmas party for the Lawis/Dumlog feeding program children and their families. The plans are to have a lunch with small food baskets for the families of the children (approx. 120 families) as well as some clothing items for them as well.

The clothing items are second hand clothing that is/has been purchased and being washed and any necessary repairs are being made. They are having rummage sales and other ventures to help raise funding for this event.

If anyone should wish to assist in helping with donations for the Christmas party, please feel free to contact us for more details.

And there is going to be an addition to the HMMI Family in about 34 weeks. Joy and I are going to be having an addition to our family. We found out on the 29th of October that Joy is 6 weeks pregnant.

Prayer Concerns:

Continue to pray that the Lord will help us work out the details of getting the Church planting accomplished in Dumlog and provide the needed things to make this a reality.

For the volunteers that labor tirelessly with HMMI in the feeding programs and other projects that HMMI is currently working on or trying to establish.

For those in HMMI that have experienced some difficulties that have arisen due to the Church planting opportunity in Dumlog. There has been a spirit of resistance by some that has caused some undue stress and difficulties.

For the Lawis and Dumlog children and parents as we continue to reach and minister to them through feeding programs and other ministry outreaches.

For the Children’s Christmas party in Lawis and Dumlog and the opportunity to present the Gospel to them and their families that will be in attendance.

But most important of all, that we at HMMI and those who help and support us do not forget that none of this would be possible without God and that it is He who is to receive all the praise, honor and glory in these things, not us. For He is the one who faithfully supplies all our needs and enables us to work in His ministry. Sometimes we think it is “our” ministry and we are greatly mistaken, this is “HIS” ministry and He enables and allows us to take part in “HIS” plan.

We must give Him all Praise, all Honor, and All Glory for the things He has enabled us to do!!!

May He be Glorified!!! AMEN!!!

Ministry prayer concerns

We at HMMI are in prayer over several areas within the ministry.

We continue to seek God’s leading in the planting of a new church in Dumlog, Toledo City, Cebu. God is faithful and has blessed HMMI with several resources for this church planting opportunity.

HMMI is continually seeking out ways to help those we minister to. One way is livelihood programs. We have several ideas for some livelihood projects/programs that would help those we serve as well as help generate support for HMMI. One of HMMI’s primary goals is to be a self-supporting ministry, not dependent on outside financial support.

HMMI is in the planning stages for several things to come in the near future. One of the things being prayed about is this coming Christmas season and ways we can minister to those families of the children in the feeding programs at Lawis and Dumlog.

We want to continue to pray for Rev. Joel Villamor. We also want to continue to pray for those who continue to volunteer with the feeding programs and other areas within HMMI.

We continue to pray that God will be glorified through the ministry of HMMI and not man. For it is through and by God alone that this ministry exists and He alone deserves all the praise for the things HMMI may be able to accomplish for His glory.

Join us in prayer as we seek to know His will for HMMI.

Prayer Needs for HMMI

HMMI incorporators and volunteers are in continual need of prayer as we seek the Lord’s leading in several things going on within HMMI.

A major prayer concern is the possibility of planting a new Church in Dumlog, Toledo City. We have listed needs in a previous post and we are still in need of these things but we also need to pray not only for the physical needs for this church planting opportunity but for those who will be laboring to make this church plant successful, not in man’s eyes but that of the Lord.

We need to continue to lift up Rev. Joel Villamor who is leading this church planting opportunity. He needs prayer for wisdom and discernment as we seek out helpers in this venture.

We need to pray for the volunteers that will be donating time and labor to build a structure to hold services in.

We need to pray for Mr. Rigor, who will be assisting Rev. Villamor in the duties of preaching and leading in this new church group. We need to pray for wisdom and discernment for him as he prepares to take on additional responsibilities.

We need to pray for those who have made pledges of support to this ministry, that God will enable them to keep those commitments.

First and foremost though, we need to pray that the Lord God Almighty, will be Glorified and Honored by this church planting venture and not man. We need to pray that He will make provision for this vision we have to plant a church in Dumlog and that this vision is in accord with His will and not our selfish desire.

Thank You Lord for All that You have done and will continue to do. May we Magnify Your Name.

Volunteers, Blessings from God

We have been involved in operating two childrens feeding programs since 18 June 2005. At first, as I have mentioned we had only one program in Lawis and we had approximately 50-60 children. Then the doors were opened to us to operate a second program in Dumlog starting in January 2006.

The one thing I am thankful for is the Volunteers! They have been a Blessing from God! Without them, neither of these programs would have been able to continue. With these programs there is no salary just a lot of hard work. Going to the market, purchasing the supplies for the feeding, preparing the food, serving the food, keeping the children organized in a peaceful manner instead of chaos, and the preparation of the Bible study lessons.

This may seem like a normal activity and for a few it would be easy, but to have 50-60 children, it can be a challenge. And the thing is these volunteers do this twice a week, once in Dumlog and once in Lawis. And we are praying that the feeding programs may be expanded to a daily activity instead of once a week so they will be more effective in combating the malnutrition in these areas.

God has blessed this ministry with several volunteers that have been faithful from the beginning and several added along the way. These people have also managed to enlist the assistance of some of the mothers, whose children participate in the feeding programs. This has been of great help.

We have had several people from outside come and see how we run or manage these feeding programs and one of the things often asked is, “How much do you pay the workers?” When they find out that these people are not paid employee’s but volunteers they seem surprized that there are still people out there that volunteer their time for such work intensive efforts as this.

We recognize there may be a time when there is a need for “paid” staff to help with these programs once they grow larger, but for now, we feel wonderfully Blessed by those have have sacrificially volunteered their time and efforts to support this ministry.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

Livelihood Projects

One of the things Heavenly Manna Ministries Int’l wants to do is try to provide opportunities for those within the communities we work in, to have opportunity to improve their lives through livelihood projects. Most of those who live in the two areas we are currently working in have little or no income to support themselves or their families if they have one.

Heavenly Manna Ministries Int’l, seeks opportunities to help these people establish a source of income for themselves or families through livelihood projects. One such livelihood project we currently support is for a young gentleman who wanted to continue his education. He wanted to go to a vocational type school for computer troubleshooting, repair and building.

HMMI was able to help this individual by providing him with a full scholarship for the 2 year course. HMMI is also helping to support this person while he is attending school by providing for his transportation to and from school as well as a monthly stipend for his food/personal effects/room.

HMMI is also currently looking into other prospective livelihood projects/opportunities. Some of them include operating tricycles (for local transportation), sewing machines, Ice Candy, repackaging, livestock raising and other small business type ventures.

Prayer Needs and Concerns

HMMI is in the process of considering a Church Planting opportunity in the Dumlog area of Toledo City, Cebu.

HMMI has been working in the Dumlog area for over one and a half years, operating a childrens feeding program and Bible study sessions with the children and adults as well. Many in the area have been asking if HMMI could start a church in the local area as there are none in the immediate area.

Through prayer and God’s providence, several doors of opportunity have been opened to HMMI to possibly see this vision of planting a church in Dumlog become a reality in the near future. We have set a prospective month as January 2008.

We believe the Lord is guiding us towards this endeavor and we believe He will provide the needs to begin. We at HMMI ask for prayer partners concerning this opportunity and for prayer concerning the needs to be met.

HMMI has several needs for this opportunity as listed below. Please pray with us as we seek the Lord and His providence.

Needs:

1) All Purpose Building/Shed – This will be constructed of Nipa and other local materials. This is a temporary structure until HMMI is able to secure land for a permanent facilities.

2) Deep Well, Bath and Toilet Construction

3) Electrical Connection

4) Plastic Chairs for Adults and Children

5) Property- We have found a section of land, 3,300 sq. mtrs, that would be an ideal site for a future church/school/childrens day care center.

6) Motorcycle Sidecar – HMMI has a motorcycle but is in need of a sidecar to be used for transportation for the volunteers and other helpers to get to Dumlog from the town.

Please pray with us for these needs.
